Agility Recovery Solutions Assists MBA Members

Disaster Recovery Planning

Isolated weather events in various parts of the country caused several of Agility Recovery Solutions members to stage alerts or declare disasters last month. The floods in the northeast plagued many businesses in the New England area, including two financial institutions, and also Agility members in Massachusetts. While both banks experienced severe flooding in their basements, the unique details of each recovery convey the breadth of Agility’s expertise and professionalism in the face of devastating circumstances.

Bank Location in Chestnut Hill, MA
Declared Disaster Wednesday, March 17
Reason for Declare: Flooded Basement
A full-service community bank with nine locations throughout Massachusetts, declared Wednesday, March 17 after a flooded basement compromised its Chestnut Hill location making it uninhabitable. Agility’s client service and operations teams quickly responded and mobilized a full, retail bank branch recovery in the ensuing hours. Agility delivered and set up all recovery assets Friday afternoon – three days before the required timeline set by the member. The bank reopened for business Monday morning.

Community Bank in Abington, MA
Declared Disaster Friday, March 19
Reason for Declare: Flooded Basement
Nearly thirty minutes south of Chestnut Hill, a single-branch, community bank also declared Friday, March 19 as a result of a flooded basement. The five-person location required a smaller mobile unit recovery due to its small employee base. Foresight proved 20/20 as Agility’s operations team developed such a solution months before and initiated the recovery utilizing an 8′ X 20′ mobile unit perfect for smaller offices and lower budgets.

Although the equipment could have been delivered within mere hours following the declare, the bank requested the recovery elements be delivered Monday. Bank management arrived Monday morning to a fully operational mobile unit. The bank resumed operations Tuesday morning.

“Disaster recovery is more than bits and bytes. It’s very personal. It is about recovering people, communities, and businesses. The reality is these businesses are vital to the economic success of our communities, yet 90 percent of small and midsized businesses are unprepared for an interruption. Thanks to Agility, these businesses were prepared,” said Agility CEO Bob Boyd. “Agility’s efforts in recovering these businesses make it possible for their employees to service the communities that count on them each and every day regardless of what has occurred within their walls.”
