Disaster Recovery Tip #21: Employee Safety
Safety is Key
A disaster can strike at any time. You and your coworkers should know what to grab and where to go if an emergency happens. Does your company have an emergency plan in place? Ask around, and if no plan is in place, help create one. Employee safety should be THE top priority when disaster strikes. When an emergency happens it is important for employees to react quickly and with purpose. Knowledge and practice are paramount.

Agility Bank Testimonial Video – Arson Recovery
Bank’34 in Alamogordo, New Mexico never thought a disaster would happen to
them…then an arsonist hit.
Hours after a sub-tenant’s office erupted into flames, Bank‘34 VP Lauretta Smith huddled with her management team in a corner of their parking lot contemplating their next step. Lauretta quickly called Agility Recovery who sprang into action to rescue the business.
“If Thursday morning, you would have told me we would be up and operational on Monday morning, I would’ve called you a liar. No way, not going to happen.”

Disaster Recovery Tip #20: Prepare for the Everyday Disaster
Expect the Unexpected.
Natural disasters dominate the headlines. We get it. Mother Nature is hard to ignore. Nevertheless, most disasters that Agility responds to are events that rarely make the news.
It’s hard to believe that something as small as a $2.00 plumbing fixture can bring your business to a sudden halt. But it can. Just watch this video from ASI Federal Credit Union. It’s a sobering reminder of everyday disasters that can be crippling. Fortunately ASI was ready. Are you?
The following whitepaper provides insight on how to prepare for everyday disasters. Click here to download.
Additionally, On 6/1, 2:00 EST, Agility’s president and CEO, Bob Boyd is hosting a free webinar on Agility’s solutions and how to minimize risk and implement an effective disaster recovery plan. Click here to register.

Rethink Your Small-business Marketing Plan With This Free Seminar
Free Small-business Strategy Seminar:
Does Your Small-business Marketing Plan Need a Reality Check?
Have you experienced the quandary of deciding which methods and channels to use to reach small-business owners? Is your marketing plan tailored to take a business owner from awareness about your products and services to the conversion that results in a sale?
To help you become more familiar with the channels, tactics and pitfalls of marketing to small businesses, Harland Clarke is sponsoring a free webinar on May 25 from 1 to 2 p.m. (EDT) titled “Demand Generation: Effective Marketing Channels — From Awareness to Conversion.” We’ve contracted with the highly acclaimed small-business research and consulting firm Enterprise Council on Small Business to present its advice, best practices, case studies and in-depth understanding about what is important to small-business owners — and what you can do to help them be more successful.
During the webinar, you will learn if your marketing plan needs a reality check by exploring the following areas:
- Changing small-business media consumption habits. Find out how receptive small-business owners are to emerging media, and how effective or ineffective traditional channels are (and how this may impact your marketing plan).
- Driving awareness to conversion. Get specific information on branding and building awareness (and how that helps you).
- Marketing plan recommendations. Learn how to incorporate traditional and digital channels (and how it aligns with your success).
This powerful 60-minute webinar will be presented by Rufino Chiong, research director at Enterprise Council on Small Business. The council is known for the small-business support it provides to companies of all sizes, including Fortune 500 members AT&T, FedEx, Google, Microsoft and Xerox. Beth Merle, marketing services director with Harland Clarke, will co-present with Rufino and conclude the webinar with specific ways you can apply this valuable information to your small-business marketing plans.
Space is limited, so please click this link to register before May 25. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email that includes the dial-in phone number and the access code.
Plan to join us on May 25 for “Demand Generation: Effective Marketing Channels — From Awareness to Conversion.” The webinar will help your organization more effectively tap into the profitable — and growing — small-business market.

Disaster Recovery Tip #19: Prepare for Hurricane Season
A Stormy Outlook.
With hurricane season a mere 20 days away, it is time to prepare for what is predicted to be an active season. Although the tropics are quiet now, meteorologists from Weather Services International (a Weather Channel company), have predicted 15 named storms, 8 hurricanes and 4 major hurricanes this year. Click here for WSI’s 2011 Hurricane Season Forecast.
With those statistics in mind, it is imperative to prepare now, not when the first storm threatens the coast. Agility has put together the following resources to help prepare your business, employees and community.
- Agility Hurricane Webinar: Guest Speaker Ben Papandrea from Weather Services International will present: “Protecting Your Business This Hurricane Season.” Wednesday, May 25th at 2pm EST.

Disaster Recovery Tip #18: Homeland Security
War & Peace
While there is relief that Osama Bin Laden has been eliminated, the threat of terrorism in the United States and abroad still remains high. Although Bin Laden was the symbolic leader of Al Qaeda, there is no doubt attacks will continue to be carried out by others. As stated by President Obama, “We must — and we will — remain vigilant at home and abroad.”
Terrorist attacks are among the many threats, natural and man-made, we must prepare for. Although some areas of the country are obvious targets for attack, history has taught us that no place in our country is completely safe.
Below are a few informational resources to help you prepare:
- Agility Educational Webinar: “Assessing Risk & Threats.” Wednesday, May 18th at 2pm EST.
